Hi! My name is Amber van der Hoorn and I am currently studying Illustrated & Animated Storytelling at St Joost, School of Art & Design. I'm also following the bachelor course called Adobe Expert to broaden my skills and experience as graphic designer. My passion lies in everything that is creative. Being diverse as a creator is a great strength for me. As a person who has the habit of thinking too much about everything, I always try to create a balance between visual and content image with my work. 

 

As a creator I do not limit myself and I am always eager to learn about the world around me, the simple but also the complex things always keep me curious. Because of this curiosity and broad interest I like to work with different analogue and digital techniques, during my studies I gained a lot of experience with Procreate & Adobe Software. Whether I illustrate digitally or analogue, paint or work with linography, I always look at what an assignment or subject requires of me, My work has a recognizable but also flexible style and often has a poetic and warm character, which is supported by rich, warm colours and interesting textures that I use to strengthen my message. 

 

As a creator, I believe in the power of art and the special role that art has in making complex and also painful issues discussable. My goal is simple but ambitious: I want to inspire people with my work, start conversations and in this way, maybe just maybe, make the world a little more beautiful.
